Five women posing against different solid color backgrounds, dressed in professional and stylish outfits.

YOU ARE

STILL BECOMING.

Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m photographing 40 women in their 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond - and I’d love for you to be one of them.

I know what it’s like to be the one behind the camera - to put everyone else first and look up one day having gone years without a real photograph of yourself.

I built this because I needed it once too. I stopped waiting to feel ready, and it changed how I see myself. Now I do it for other women. I’d love to do it for you.

I don’t think everyone will feel the pull to do something like this, and that’s ok. But if you do - if some part of you already knows it’s time - consider this your invitation.

Two women posing with a black background and text in the center reading '40 Over 40 Project' and 'Celebrate Your Story.' The woman on the left has blonde hair and wears a pink sequined dress. The woman on the right has black hair and wears a black top with cut-out sleeves.

Somewhere along the way, someone made you believe you weren’t worth being seen.

Maybe it was something difficult you had to go through. Maybe it was just years of putting everyone else first. Maybe it’s the messages all around us. Maybe you can’t even remember when it happened.

The woman you were before you learned to make yourself smaller is still in there. And I think the world loses something when she stays hidden.

It’s going to be an amazing experience, but I’m not going to promise you’ll cry or have some big breakthrough. That’s too much pressure on me and on you! I’m also not here to fix you or hand you a new version of yourself. That is the ongoing journey.

Here’s what I can promise: a few hours where you get to stop performing. Where someone is paying close attention to you for once. And photographs that prove what I saw. And most likely what all your loved ones see.

What you do with that is all yours.

    PLANNING & CONSULTATION

About a week before, we meet on FaceTime for 15-30 minutes to finalize your outfits. I want to understand exactly what you want out of this.

  • A Canon EOS 1300D camera body without lens, surrounded by green leaves, with brown envelopes on the top right corner, all placed on a white background.

    PHOTO SHOOT 10am-2pm

The fun part. It starts with hair and makeup, then we move through your looks together. I’ll guide every pose - you don’t need to know a thing. Plan something nice afterward: you’ll feel amazing.

  • Close-up of an ornate, gilded picture frame with intricate carved floral and scroll patterns.

    REVEAL APPOINTMENT

One to two weeks later, we sit down together and you choose your favorites. Prepare to fall in love with them.

THE 40 OVER 40 PROJECT - $399

  • Pre-session Consultation

  • Professional Hair & Makeup

  • A studio session, up to 2 hours, with me

  • One finished portrait, matted and ready to frame

  • Your portrait and story featured in the project magazine, alongside the other women

  • A celebration event where the women come together and your portrait is shown

Here’s what I know after doing this for years: you’re going to fall in love with your images. Every woman does. The hard part won’t be deciding whether you want more than one - it’ll be narrowing down, because you won’t be able to.

After you see them, we’ll talk about bringing more home - prints, albums, wall art.

A NOTE ON PRICING

The price itself is $399, and that covers everything above.

Most women choose to bring some home. Single images start at $199, and most choose an album or wall art in the $1000 - $1800 range. Larger collections go up from there, to a $3599 heirloom album. You’ll see every price before you decide anything - nothing beyond the $399 is required. You only buy what you love.

THIS IS YOUR INVITATION

There are 40 spots, and I read every application myself.

This isn’t a typical form. There are no wrong answers - I’m just trying to understand who you are, and whether this is the right home for your story right now. Take your time. Say the true thing, it’s usually what you answer first so don’t edit it down so much.

ABOUT MARJ

I’m Marj. I’ve been a photographer for over 20 years, and I’ve spent most of my life behind the camera — which is exactly why I know what it costs to never be in front of it… all the years when I didn’t exist in photographs.

For years I had very few photographs of myself. Not because I wasn’t there — because I didn’t feel free to be fully seen. It didn’t feel safe. I understand that now in a way I didn’t then. It’s part of why I do this work.

So when I tell you I see what you’re carrying, I mean it. I’ve been on the other side of the lens, and I know the quiet relief of finally being looked at — really looked at — by someone who isn’t trying to fix you. Spoiler alert: it’s you that needs to see yourself again. That’s what I want to give you.

I’d be honored to photograph you.
